Cruise the Great Lakes Media Event in Chicago

Cruise the Great Lakes organized a media event in Chicago in August. CTGL Chair Dave Lorenz joined representatives of Blount Small Ship Adventures and GSGP to highlight the emerging regional cruise industry. Media participants included the Chicago Tribune, Premiere Travel Media, and Group Travel Directory. The event took place aboard the 84-passenger Grande Mariner in Chicago’s Burnham Harbor.


Cruise the Great Lakes Media Event in Toronto

In May 2019, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Michael Tibollo joined representatives of Cruise the Great Lakes, PortsToronto and Victory Cruise Lines at the Port of Toronto to highlight the emerging regional cruise industry. Nearly 100 regional travel and tourism professionals attended the event, which took place aboard the 200-passenger Victory 1 luxury cruise ship.

"Cruise the Great Lakes" Launched

Cruise the Great Lakes, a collaboration of the region’s States, Provinces and partners, is working together to grow regional cruising. Its mission is to promote cruising in the region through an optimized and unique brand targeted towards current and potential passengers. 

GLUSA Launches China Program

As of July 1 2017, GLUSA started a full-scale China program including education, sales and marketing.  GLUSA conducts a similar Chinese program to the current, successful UK/German programs and includes public relations, consumer publications, newsletters, social media, familiarization tours, sales missions, travel trade outreach and trade shows. After only one year of the China program, GLUSA signed strategic partnership agreements to develop traveling opportunities to the Great Lakes region with notable travel agencies in China including Shanghai Utour International Travel Service Co., LTD, Jin Jiang Travel, China Travel Service Zhejiang Group Co., LTD and America International Travel Service Inc.
